Room for a question.

The licence desk

Who can I check in Arizona?

Start with the person's full name and the letters that name their licence type.

A clinician is the health professional assessing you. If their title is new to you, ask what it means. Then use the board for that profession.

A medical doctor: MD

MD means medical doctor.

MD licence details and links to public board orders appear in the Arizona Medical Board's Doctor Search, as of October 3, 2026.

Public board orders are written decisions the board makes about a doctor.

These can include action for breaking board rules. Open an order to read what the board decided. Compare the name in the record with the person offering care.

A doctor with DO after their name

As of October 3, 2026, Arizona has a separate board that licenses doctors with the title DO and offers a search for them.

Use this search when the doctor has DO after their name. The MD search is for a different licence type.

A nurse practitioner: NP

Nursing licences and advanced-practice certificates can be verified through links from Arizona's Nursing Board, as of October 3, 2026.

A nurse practitioner is a nurse whose training goes further. Ask to check both their nursing licence and their advanced-role certificate.

Arizona nurse-practitioner prescribing also requires board authority and must fit the practitioner's training.

PA means physician assistant, a health professional with medical training. Ask the board about authority that is not clear from the record.

What an empty record cannot tell you

Some board website records face Arizona limits, but additional public records are available on request, as of October 6, 2026.

Discipline means action the board took against a professional for breaking its rules.

A blank discipline section does not prove there has never been a complaint or board action.

Ask the board whether there are other public records about complaints or actions involving this person.
