Research notes

# What does the evidence actually say?

A promising word is a reason to ask for the evidence behind it.

Evidence means information used to support a claim. Ask what was checked, which exact product it concerned, and whether it answers your question.

## Approval belongs to a product

As of September 26, 2026, “peptide therapy” has no single defined status in US law.

Ask: What is the medicine called? Is it FDA-approved, made to order, or sold for research? What studies support using it for my health concern?

## Made to order means no FDA review before sale

No FDA check of safety, quality, or effectiveness precedes marketing a compounded product, as of September 26, 2026.

FDA means Food and Drug Administration. Compounded means prepared to order. Ask: Does the study you are showing me use the same medicine I would receive? What did it find for people with my health concern?

## An advisory vote is advice

As of September 26, 2026, an FDA advisory committee's vote does not itself change the law on compounding ingredients.

An advisory committee is a group that gives the agency advice. Ask for the final rule when a headline claims the law changed.

## A problem report is a signal to examine

The FDA says reports of unwanted events do not establish cause or show how often a problem occurs.

Ask: What else is known about this problem? A report says something happened. It does not tell you how likely it is to happen to you.

## A question worth taking to a visit

Which evidence supports this option for my concern, and what does it leave uncertain? Ask for an answer in words you can use when weighing the choice.

A word to keep

## Evidence

What is the claim, and what supports it? Keep those together.
